All security issues are **❌ BLOCKING**. ## Project Layout C API → `include/rdc/rdc.h` | TLS/auth → `authentication/` | Server → `server/src/` | gRPC client → `rdc_libs/rdc_client/src/` | Python → `python_binding/` ## Your Job 1. Check for hardcoded secrets, tokens, credentials, or certificate paths 2. Verify TLS/mTLS configuration is correct — unauthenticated mode (`-u` flag) must be opt-in only, never default 3. Check certificate loading paths for path traversal or injection risks 4. Verify input validation at system boundaries: - GPU group IDs passed to RPC handlers - Field IDs and watch parameters - Job ID strings (check for injection if used in file paths or logs) - gRPC request fields before forwarding to AMDSMI 5. Identify unsafe C++ patterns (buffer overflows, format string bugs, unchecked array access in field lookup) 6. Review dlopen library loading paths — verify no user-controlled input reaches `dlopen()` call 7. Check for sensitive data in logs or error messages (GPU serial numbers, driver keys, certificate contents) 8. Verify gRPC server TLS handshake is enforced in authenticated mode — check for any bypass paths 9. Check lock file handling (`/var/run/rdcd.lock`) — verify no TOCTOU race on startup 10. Review daemon privilege model — verify rdcd does not run with unnecessary privileges ## RDC-specific Security Concerns - **Unauthenticated mode (`rdcd -u`):** Provides full GPU control over the network with no auth. Any code path that accidentally enables this or widens its exposure is critical. - **Certificate pinning vs PKI:** Two cert modes in `authentication/` — changes to cert loading must handle both correctly. - **gRPC service exposure:** Both RdcAPI and RdcAdmin services listen on `0.0.0.0:50051` — flag any new RPCs that don't have appropriate auth checks. - **AMDSMI privilege:** AMDSMI requires root or `video` group access. Verify no escalation paths through rdcd. - **Module loading:** `RdcModuleMgrImpl` calls `dlopen()` on module paths — verify paths are not user-controllable. ## Severity | Marker | Use for | |--------|---------| | **❌ BLOCKING** | Any security vulnerability, hardcoded secrets, TLS bypass, unsafe patterns, unvalidated network input | | **⚠️ IMPORTANT** | Missing input validation, weak error handling that leaks info, overly broad permissions | | **💡 SUGGESTION** | Defense-in-depth opportunities | | **📋 FUTURE WORK** | Security hardening of untouched code | ## Output Return findings as a markdown list: **[F-N] [Severity]: [Issue Title]** (`file:line`) - Explanation and impact - **Fix:** [fix] or **Option A/B** with recommendation
